Default [Resolved] I think i might have errorsafe-help needed

Hi about six months ago i got winfixer and found instructions and was able to successfully remove it. Then starting a few weeks ago I got a few popups similar to the winfixer popups i had once gotten but they were for errorsafe. I never clicked on the "warning" messages but alt-F4ed them. However, i have been getting many popups since then and my wireless internet will go through periods of not detecting my wireless network. I have used spyware doctor, windows defender and ad-aware se to clean my computer. I've run hijackthis and removed files posed as threats through this analyzer...http://www.hijackthis.de/index.php?langselect=english, but i still get popups. Any help in getting rid of these popups is greatly appreciated...here is my hijackthis log file and sorry for the lengthy post.

Hi there CW , welcome to PCHF.

Do you remember what entrys you have removed with hjt?

Please download VundoFix.exe from here , and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.

Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Thanks for the reply. I do not remember what i removed with hjt, i guess i should have written that down. As far as vundofix, i downloaded it about a week ago after searching through some posts in the forum. But whenever i click to run it as a task and it says it will reopen in a minute or less, nothing reopens or seems to reopen. Now that i think about it could it reopen immediately to where i dont realize something has reopened. Thanks

Lets try the manuall way then , but i must add that im not sure if the infection is still running on youre pc. It is atleast damaged.

Please download Process Explorer by Systernals from HERE.

Also download KillBox by Option^Explicit from HERE.

Then boot up in SAFE MODE and stay in safe mode (hit f8 when booting up), untill the entire fix is done.

Unzip Process Explorer and double click on procexp.exe
In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of geeby.dll once and then click the kill button.
After you have killed all of the geeby.dll's under winlogon click OK.

Next In the top section of the Process Exlporer screen again , double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of geeby.dll then click the kill button.
Once you have done that click OK again.

Next run HijackThis and place a check beside each of the following:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: geeby - geeby.dll
Now click fix checked and close HijackThis.

Please copy the text in the quote below, and paste it into a blank notepad window.
Save it as vundo.reg and in the "save as" type box choose "all files".
Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

REGEDIT4
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B8B5527 4-0F9A-41E5-9067-A3539BD9E860}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{44240BB 5-BD7D-4D49-A1AA-8AB0F3D3CB44}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{581F22DA-7202-4F21-AEF3-114787156016}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B8B55274-0F9A-41E5-9067-A3539BD9E860}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{44240BB5-BD7D-4D49-A1AA-8AB0F3D3CB44}]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MSEvents.MSEvents]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MSEvents.MSEvents.1]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\MSEvents.MSEve nts]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\MSEvents.MSEve nts.1]

Double click on Killbox.exe and then check the delete on reboot button.

Enter the following filepath and filename into the Full path of file to delete box:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\geeby.dll

Click the red circle with the white x and allow your computer to reboot.
(if killbox doesn't reboot on its own then please reboot manually)

After your computer has rebooted please run Hijackthis again and post a new Hijackthis log.

Youre hjt log is clean now , but you could fix this one aswell unless you want to keep using that as startpage:

O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.toshiba.com

And lets see if you have a Apropos infection , that wont show in an hjr log but does cause popups:

Please download AproposFix.exe - but do NOT run it yet.
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/aproposfix.exe

Then boot youre pc in safemode (hit f8 when booting up).

Once in Safe Mode, double-click aproposfix.exe and unzip it to the desktop.
Open the aproposfix folder on your desktop and run RunThis.bat. Follow the prompts.
When the tool is finished, please reboot back into normal mode.
And post the log.txt file in the aproposfix folder to a post here.
