Default [Resolved] Why Does My Floppy Drive Make A Noise

I've noticed for the last few days or so that my floppy drive suddenly makes a noise, like it's trying to read a disk. It only last for about 2-3 seconds. There is no disk in the drive and no virus scanner etc. running a scan.

Does anyone know why it's doing this?

Hi Paul, the floppy drive making a noise is an indication some program/system process is trying to access a file. This is usually caused by an incomplete installation of a program which itself can hae many causes such as an aborted installation, a crash during installation or not rebooting after a installation. But to make sure what is going on it's a good idea to download hijackthis, do a system scan and save a loggile. You can post the logfile here as an attachment. This way we can take a look at the running processes and, hopefully, point out the problem and give you a solution.
Good luck, Bram

O.k. I see a few suspicious entries in your logfile like
O23 - Service: Dusyhy Service (DusyhySrv) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dusyhy.exe

Also you're running or, previously had, two antivirus programs on your system, Antivir and Authentium anitivirus. Having two or more virusscanners can cause problems, so remove one permanently.

Best is to go to the hijackthislog section. First do the prework and create and post a new hjtlog (as an attachment). When your log is clean and the problems persist please repost in this topic, else post a notification in this topic that the problem is solved.
Good luck, Bram

Hi Paul, have you done all the prework?
When you did, please post the log as an attachment, in a textfile that is. (I edit your post. Click on 'go advanced' so you can choose 'manage attachments' this way you can upload your hijackthislogfile) In the hijackthis section of this site. I can edit your post and move it there if you want me to.
Please let me know, Bram
