Hi David,

This happens sometimes, hopefully it was just the way the info was written for that JPEG and it won't cause anything else to happen.

To change your default viewer back to netscape, right click on My Computer and select Explore. Click on Tools, Folder Options, click on the File Types tab.

Start typing JPG, or scroll down to JPG file type, click on Change. In the list of programs try to locate Netscape. If it is not listed, click on Browse, navigate to the Netscape.exe file. Make sure that the Always use the selected program... box is checked, then click on OK.

You should be good to go, although I tend to restart my PC after changes like that to make sure that they take. (Old habits from Win 9* days, lol)

Post back to let us know how that works for you.

Looking forward to your reply,

Thanks for the tip LGW. Got me to the right church, but needed to find right pew. The file viewer already showed netscape as viewer but quicktime still showed as icon. Finally deleted quicktime and was able to use netscape on the "open with" option. However, the "jpeg images" now shows as "jpeg files", so don't have preview option and file bits are smaller. Any other suggestions??

Hey David,

Glad we got you part way there, do me a favor, follow the instructions for PreWork in my signature, and post back the resulting two logs here. I just want to be sure we are not overlooking a possible malware infection. Better safe than sorry.

It will also help to target the troubleshooting.

Looking forward to your reply,

Had problems trying to run spysweep after downloading. I think go-back might have interfered w/safe mode as I didn't disable it. I'm reluctant to do so because it's saved my **** too many times to go without it. I ran Ad-Aware and SystemSuite anti-virus. I quarantined trojan downloader.bckp and no viruses showed on the virus check. Hope that helps you. I'm running Win 98, not 2nd addition.

OK, since you are running Win98, ewido won't work for you. Please follow the rest of the instructions, and post the HijackThis log back here. SpySweeper should not interfere with your going into Safe Mode. If it does, disable it first, as long as you log into Safe Mode, and not Safe Mode with Networking, you do not have to worry about being attacked.

Looking forward to your reply,
