Default [Resolved] Help Me Please

Hello, i have just now registered and i need help with two things.

1) Whenever I go on a game, or any website with sound playing, if i press back or click on a link, the music keeps playing in the background. I've had about 8 music loops going at the same time before. The only way i can stop the sounds playing is to close every internet explorer window. As you can imagine, this is really inconvienient.

2) Is there anyway to increase your bandwidth usage, because i have 2.2mbps broadband, yet my downloads come down at about 100kbps.

I would be really gratefull if anyone repliedto this with useful information. Thanks you for your time.

Paul

Hya Thebrummyone , welcome to PCHF.

Let's first test youre bandwith speed to see what you are really getting. Make sure you dont have anything downloading and then go to this site:

http://specials.zdnet.co.uk/misc/ban...speedtest.html
and/or:
http://www.beelinebandwidthtest.com

Wait a few seconds , and post back the results that come up please.

And the first prob you mentioned sounds indeed very annoying.. Let's rule out malware first , please follow the instructions in the "Prework" link below in my sig and post back with the 2 resulting log files.

Default Speed

Th site i went on said that i was downloading at 2.2, does it depend on the speed of the host? Below is what the site says. What are the two different numbers? Thank you

Your line speed:

1963.4 Kbps

240.6 K bytes/sec

Yup , the speed you get depends on the host aswell , but it looks like you are getting a decent speed for youre connection.

And one is in bits , and the other in bytes. 1 byte is 8 bits.
ISP's meassure theyre speed in bits (looks like it is more...) and when you download something it is normally listed in bytes , so if you download with 100 KB/s then that would be 800 kbps.

Dont worry , you can use the 15 day free trial of Ewido. You dont have to pay for anything. Please download and run Ewido , and post the log from it.

PS , do you know that Pcanywhere is running on youre pc?

http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoff...a12/index.html

If you use it youreself then its nothing to worry about.
