Default [Resolved] Computer slow & System Restore & WMP 9.0

I updated to winxp sp2 in february hoping that would help with the slowness i was having but guess not. Not sure why I am running so slow-have a 50 gig and only used 31 gig. Seems have alot of processes running but I can't decipher which needs to really run for sure. Also I cannot get to a system restore point only checkpoints and the calendar won't go back before 1-1-06 (maybe normal). Not sure how to correct that if i have been hijacked. On the WMP I updated to the 9.0 version and now cannot copy music to cd - only get the message the player cannot copy to the cd - looked at the info & it came up this - 0xC00D11AB: Cannot copy files to recordable disc - I went thru all the instructions of slowing down etc but nothing works. Am using memorex music cd-rs--- I am attaching my hijack this note log in hopes that there is some problems showing there that I am not smart enough to understand .. Please let me know if there have been some hijacking problems. I run trend spyware and zone labs for the firewall. -- Thank you very much - saddison

Hya Saddison , welcome to PCHF.

You have severall minor issues on there it seems , nothing major.

First uninstall "Logitech\Desktop Messenger" in add remove programs. Then run this tool to disable the Windows Messenger service:

Please download Shoot The Messenger

Download and run the small (22 kbyte) "ShootTheMessenger.exe" utility. It will display the current status of your system's Messenger Service. The button near the bottom of its window will allow you to set the service to whichever state ? running or disabled ? that you desire.

If, for any reason, you should ever choose to re-enable the Windows Messenger Service, simply re-run ShootTheMessenger to do so.
Then boot in safemode and fix these with hjt:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [LDM] \Program\
O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.globalcomputer.com
O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://imgfarm.com/images/nocache/fu...tialSetup1.0.0. 5.cab
O16 - DPF: {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-DEFA-EB76B1D5FA7D} - http://reciperewards.aavalue.com/RR/...rr-toolbar.cab
O16 - DPF: {AB29A544-D6B4-4E36-A1F8-D3E34FC7B00A} (WTHoster Class) - http://install.wildtangent.com/bgn/p...ed/install.cab
And also have a look trough all those "016" Pogo entry's in there. I would remove all that you dont use anymore.

After that have a look in the "Prework" link below in my sig and follow the instructions for Ewido there , and post the log from that please.

Nah , it doesn't wipe it out. You can still use those games after removing that entry.

Yup , you did everything alright.

And it indeed seems to be a false positive for the brilliant digital entrys.
But you can run Ewido again and let it fix everything else the the brilliant digital entrys. The rest can and should be removed.
