Default [Fixed] blackworm

Something snuck into my pc & is now causing pop up ads to appear. One is a pop up warning about blackworm virus. I ran ad-aware & vundofix but that did not help. I attached ht log. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi there Gmikos , welcome to PCHF.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop:
http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4

  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.

Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

The Vundo is gone , and youre hjt log is clean.

Do you still have any problems?

PS, you mentioned that you already had used the Vundofix but it didn't work then , did you use a different Vundofix , or did you use different settings the first time?

The one difference when I tried yesterday was that blackworm pop up window was still open when I did vundofix. Not sure if that might have stopped something from being removed. Will give pc a workout & see if pop ups continue. Thanks again for help!

Looks like it indeed interfered with the removal process the first time since it was still there , but its gone now.

I'll mark this as Fixed for now , but if you do still get popups just report back ofcourse.
