*hinthintwhataboutsp2??hinthint*... and also I.E. is out of date... but atleast you have an AV and firewall finally now..

Boot in safemode

Click Start>Run and type in: services.msc
Click OK

In the Services window find: netconf32
Select/highlight and right click the entry, and choose: Properties
On the General tab, under Service Status click the Stop button
Beside: Startup Type, in the drop menu, select: Disabled
Click Apply, then OK

Open HJT and click config > misc tools > “delete an NT service”
Copy and past: netconf32
Click OK.

Then fix this entry with hjt:

O23 - Service: netconf32 - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\netconf32.exe (file missing)
And post a new hjt log to check.

Well, as for IE, I really don't use it, but I guess updating wouldn't hurt. Also, for some reason, I can't run MSN Messenger. It says something along the lines of riched20.dll not being a valid Windows file or something of the sort.

Here is the log:

Youre hjt log is clean , and riched20.dll is an legit windows file but maybe it is damaged.

You could try reinstalling MSN Messenger , or try to replace the riched20.dll:

Where does the riched20.dll file go? Do I put it in the Windows folder or in the MSN Messenger folder?

It goes in the windows/system32 folder.

You may have to unregister the old first , and after replacing register the new one:

Open a command window (Start->Run, type in 'cmd' hit enter)
type and hit enter:

to unregister:
regsvr32 /u riched20.dll

to register:
regsvr32 riched20.dll

That solution worked like a charm! I put the file inside of the MSN Messenger folder and presto! Instant success!

Thanks for your help, Joe!
