Default [Fixed] Spyware Problemo!

A few days ago I began to get a little yellow triangle warning icon pop up in my system tray with a dialogue bubble telling me I have spyware on my computer. I had only been running with the Windows firewall (please don't shoot me, I'm still learning!), but I downloaded Sygate and now have it running all the time.

I also downloaded ewido and ran it, and it found 300+ infected items. I removed them all, then ran it again, and it found 100+ items infected. Anyway, I finally can run ewido now and have either 0 or 1 infected item each time (as evidenced in the log I have attached).

I seem to have eliminated the System Tray / pop-up problem, but every now and then I get a warning that a program called iexplorer.exe is attempting to access the internet, and whenever I open Internet Explorer, I am prevented from seeing anything by Sygate. When I allow Internet Explorer to run and access the internet, when I open it I am immediately directed to a Spyware homepage, from which I cannot navigate through the web at all.

Help me PC Help Forum.com; you're my only hope!

Hya Thecob , welcome to PCHF.

Please Download Smitrem to your desktop:

http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click...click.php?id=1

Run the installer and then press Start to Extract the
files to the desktop, Do not run it yet.

Reboot into safe mode (Reboot and keep tapping F8 then
choose safe mode from the list)

Run SmitRem:

Open the SmitRem folder and double click the "RunThis.bat"
file to start the tool , Follow the prompts on
screen. Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of the drive that you ran the batch file on, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please attach this log to your next reply and also a new hjt log.

Looking good.

Do you still use those MSN and AOL toolbars?

And these can be fixed with hjt:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)
How is it going with youre pc? Still any problems?

Internet Explorer seems to be working okay now, I haven't had the pop-up problem in at least a day, but how exactly do I get HJ to fix those two problems you included in your post?

Start hjt and select "do a system scan only" , then putt a tick infront of those two lines and press "fix checked".
