Default [Fixed] t'internet problem and previous infection

Hey

Posted over at t'internet forum, laptop internet keeps cutting out on me after about 10 mins or so. All this coincides with installing XP Pro Service pack 2, and being infected by the spyaxe thing. Went through the process of clearing the infection, but thought I'd post a log to make sure.

Cheers.

Well, there's a couple of bits in there that need cleaning. One of the Security Team will be along to look shortly.

Hya Student1.

Looks like the spyaxe is gone already but to check please run this tool:

Download Smitrem to your desktop

http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click...click.php?id=1

Run the installer and then press Start to Extract the
files to the desktop, Do not run it yet.

Then boot in safemode (hit f8 when booting up) and Run SmitRem:

Open the SmitRem folder and double click the "RunThis.bat"
file to start the tool , Follow the prompts on
screen. Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of the drive that you ran the batch file on, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please attach this log to your next reply

Then fix these with hjt:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LaunchApp] Alaunch
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
O18 - Filter: text/html - (no CLSID) - (no file)
O18 - Filter: text/plain - (no CLSID) - (no file)
Reboot and post the smitrem log plus a new hjt log please.

I also see you don't seem to have a firewall , you could have a look in our download section for some free ones.

The smitrem only found one shortcut left , not much. The rest is already properly removed. And youre hjt log is clean.

Do you still have any problems?

Hey joe..

Yeah, the internet is still cutting out after a period of time (about 10 mins or slightly longer). Can't think what the problem could be. I'd tried turning AV on and off, and have up dated windows again, still the same problem.

Cheers.

Are you maybe using a dial up connection?
And can you have a look in youre event viewer for errors at the time of the cut outs?

Rightclick "my computer"/manage/event viewer.
