Default [Fixed] sluggish when connecting to internet

Hi
When I connect to the internet my pc gets sluggish for a minute or two. My home page takes a while to display and messenger does the same. It's as if I've got a million things trying to launch all at once but I dont think I have.
I dont seem to be infected with anything and have went through my start ups and there doesnt seem to be anything obvious. Other than that my pc doesnt seem to run too badly although I remember when it used to run like the wind! I think it could probably boot quicker too. I have recently upgraded the RAM from 512mb to 1.5gb and noticed no difference so thought maybe it's time to get a log file checked out.

Edit: Please make sure that all logs are posted as attachments. LGW

Doesn't look like any problems , just one strange entry..

These can be fixed with hjt:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

And can you upload this file to the following sites and report back the result?

C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\msmsgs.exe

http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
and:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/

LOL , not much to go on.

Only:

Fortinet 2.54.0.0 12.16.2005 suspicious

But it can't be right.. its not supposed to run there..

download KillBox by Option^Explicit from HERE.

Then boot in safemode (hit f8 when booting up) and fix this one with hjt:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\msmsgs.exe /background

Double click on Killbox.exe and then check the delete on reboot button.

Enter the following filepath and filename into the Full path of file to delete box:

C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$\msmsgs.exe

Click the red circle with the white x and allow your computer to reboot.
(if killbox doesn't reboot on its own then please reboot manually)

After your computer has rebooted please run Hijackthis again and post a new Hijackthis log.

Thumbs up

I think I've still got it but to a lesser extent. I had a virus about 6 months ago and although it was dealt with, I don't think my pc ever got back up to scratch. It's as if something lingered or some settings or files were left affected. It's not a major problem though because my pc does all the things I need it for, it's just I don't think it's overall performance reflects it's specifications. Sometimes programs take a few seconds to get going, but once they kick in they work ok.
Thanks for all your kind help anyway. O0
