Yes, the link you put above is where I have been, and the only method I couldn't follow was the SoftwareDistribution one, because of no Security Tab.
I had better post it in the Windows section - don't want to take you away from all those needy HJT logs.

I'm gona mark this as fixed since the malware problems are gone , now let's see if we can also find a solution for the winupdate prob.O0
