Before using HijackThis Please Do the Following:



Show hidden files and folders:

For XP:

1. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
2. Click the View tab.
3. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
4. If you see a warning message, click Yes.
5. Click Apply.
6. Click OK.

For 98/2000/ME:

1. Double-click the My Computer icon
2. Click on the View menu, click Folder Options
3. Advanced Settings box, under the "Hidden files" folder, click Show all files.
4. If you see a warning message, click Yes.
5. Click Apply.
6. Click OK.

Disable System Restore to prevent re-infection.
(If you have/use it. You can turn it back on when youre PC is clean).

How to disable system restore:

WinXP.

1. Click the Start button.
2. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3. On the System Restore tab, check Turn off System Restore or Turn off System Restore on all drives.

WinME.

1. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2. Double-click the System icon.
3. If the System icon is not visible, click View all Control Panel options to display it.
4. On the Performance tab, click File System.
5. On the Troubleshooting tab check Disable System Restore.
6. Click OK. Click Yes, when you are prompted to restart Windows.

Go to add and remove programs and uninstall "MyWay Speed Bar" there.

Then disable the Messenger if you dont use it;
Please download Shoot The Messenger
Download and run the small (22 kbyte) "ShootTheMessenger.exe" utility. It will display the current status of your system's Messenger Service. The button near the bottom of its window will allow you to set the service to whichever state — running or disabled — that you desire.
If, for any reason, you should ever choose to re-enable the Windows Messenger Service, simply re-run ShootTheMessenger to do so.


Please download Process Explorer by Systernals from HERE

Also download KillBox by Option^Explicit from HERE

And also download CCleaner



Then boot up in SAFE MODE and stay in safe mode untill the entire fix is done.(hit f8 when booting up)


Unzip Process Explorer and double click on procexp.exe
In the top section of the Process Exlporer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.
Once you see this screen click on each instance of mfcjava.dll once and then click the kill button.
After you have killed all of the mfcjava.dll's under winlogon click OK.

Next In the top section of the Process Exlporer screen again , double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of mfcjava.dll then click the kill button.
Once you have done that click OK again.


Then fix these with hjt:
(if still present)


Then delete the folder in bold , and run Ccleaner.

Please copy the text in the quote below, and paste it into a blank notepad window.

Save it as vundo.reg and in the save as type box choose all files.
Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

After that double click on Killbox.exe and then check the delete on reboot button.

Enter the following filepath and filename into the Full path of file to delete box

C:\WINDOWS\Cursors\mfcjava.dll

Click the red circle with the white x and allow your computer to reboot.


Then please run a scan with Ewido:

Then please post a new (full , inc. the first part) hjt log plus the Ewido log.

And also a description of remaining problems.(if any)

one thing now is that it is slower than with the virus on the computer... anyway to clear stuff up to go faster?

Its just that my computer used to be faster before/ during when i had the virus. I just don't know what it could be. I would think getting rid of the virus would allow my computer to move faster but I guess not.

Could you run a defrag and scandisk on your system, this could help with the performance.

Also right click on your taskbar and go to Task Manager.
Check the performance tab to see how much your CPU is getting, also check under processes and let us know which process is using the most resources.
