I would like to thank you all for your help, but...is Service Pack 2 reliable? I've heard many mixed reviews of it and people claim that it messes with the computer in some way.

Anyone care to shed some light on this?

There are indeed people that have big problems with sp2 , but that is only a very small fraction of the people who actually use sp2.

But i must add , if you install sp2 , it is highly recommended to do that on a fresh install , or even better , with an slipstreamed sp2 cd. (an xp install cd with sp2 integrated)
