Okay, well there's nothing to go by in the HJT logfile. So there's either a software or hardware incompatibility somewhere along the lines. Whatever the cause, it should be found and removed.

I would start with going to Start > Run > type SFC /scannow and allow the scan to complete. You will likely need the XP Setup disk, although an OEM setup (where XP is pre-installed & you don't get a disk) might not. This might highlight and resolve issues with corrupt or missing files.

It would also be an idea to run an online scan [here] using Internet Explorer (ActiveX needs to be permitted). Before scanning, please go to Settings and choose to scan for "Extended threats". Then select to scan "My Computer". This facility does not remove any threats, so if anything is found you can save the results (once complete) in either a text or HTML format and then attach to this thread. Other online scans do remove threats but are not so good as Kaspersky for scanning.

As of right now, I'm on my third attempt to scan the PC using the site that you mentioned. The reason why it's been three times is that the first time, it got all the way up to 90%. The second time was 87%...

I'm really hoping that it all works out, but what should I do if it freezes a third time?

Have a look with this app to see if the freezing is a heat problem:

I tried to get the program, but this error message came up:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4432\mscor wks.dll could not be loaded.

Hi

I think something that needs consideration, is upgrading Windows. Service Pack 2 might will not necessarily solve any present problems, but at least SP1 is highly recommendable.

May I ask what the specifications are of the computer's hardware?

Regards,
