After following all of the instructions, here is my new HijackThis! log:

hijackthis.txt

Also, about the Tclock item found in the first log, I use it to keep my clock in sync.

One last thing, what am I supposed to do with the hoster file that you told me to download, Joe?

I was wondering if there was anything else that should be done, since I followed all of the steps without incident.

Is everything fixed?

Looks like it worked out of safemode. Its all gone , how is it going with youre pc now?

Only can you upload this file:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zzzHPSETUP] D:\Setup.exe \RESET

To this online virusscan here to check it out:

Looks like it's on a CD-ROM, possibly something HP. But there's nothing conclusive about it. What is a possibility is it being something HP and has being given a normal RUN entry so as to be executed on every boot, rather than having RUNONCE so as to be executed only on the next boot (typically where an install requires the machine to reboot to continue/complete the process).

Gray, if you happen to know exactly what this file is, please let us know. Otherwise, and if Jotti reports nothing, I will request you to upload the file elsewhere for analysis. That is assuming you know which disk this would be on.

I have found this and wonder if it is zzzHPSETUP... http://castlecops.com/hash99283-SETUP_EXE.html
It mentions Win95, which makes me wonder if it is indeed the file and might then explain a compatibility issue with WinXP. I could be wrong, though.

Regards,
M_M

The jotti scan was inconclusive and D: is the letter of my CD-ROM drive, which makes M_M's suggestion that much more true.

As for the computer, it's running much better now. It's like taking a breath of fresh air after being surrounded in smoke. It freezes every now and then, but there probably isn't a way to fix that.

Okay, well at least things are going well

Do you happen to know where the file is from? Just that every database seems to have no idea what it is

[edit] Wait...
It freezes every now and then, but there probably isn't a way to fix that.
That shouldn't happen. Is it random, or when you're doing something in particular?
