Default [Fixed] Trojan & Virus found

Hello,

I am running AVG anti-virus on my computer and it has just found a trojan horse and virus (java/ByteVerify). However after the scan it will not heal these nuances (I am running AVG free edition). My computer has been running a little slow of late, I assume as a result of these. I also ran Spybot S&D and nothing was found. Any ideas on how to clean these out the system?

Any help is greatly appreciated,

David

:-) Hi David,

Would you please follow the instructions from the PreWork link in my signature, and post your ewido log INTO your new post, (they tend to turn into Chinese, literally, when they are attached,) and Attach your HijackThis log.

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

I ran an ewido fast system scan prior to your post and found 11 spyware objects, all of which I cleaned. After running a new scan, no new objects were found, and thus I have nothing to post here. (Should I run a different scan than the fast system scan?).
As for the hijack this log, I have attached it.

Thanks kindly for your assistance.

Hello, Welcome to PCHF

Your HJT logfile shows no problems. Are you still getting alerts from any security apps?

It would be an idea to install & run [CrapCleaner] which may remove offending temporary files, possibly such that are causing the alerts for java/ByteVerify. It may also free up hard-drive space after clearing other temporary files that are not required.

Please redownload HijackThis and save it to a permanent location, such as C:\Program Files\HijackThis so as to ensure the program and backups are efficiently stored and will not be deleted by programs such as CrapCleaner.

I then recommend fixing these entries...

:-D Mere Mortal, (CCleaner is part of the PreWork instructions.)?

@Tiger, In general, it is best to run a full system scan whenever you are trying to remove known malware with all programs that you are using. It would be a good idea to run a full ewido scan.

If you would also please download Spy Sweeper and Housecall from my signature. Also RegSupremePro.

Install and run Housecall (it's an online virus scanner, see if it finds anything.) Then run Spy Sweeper, it is excellent at locating traces of malware that get left behind but can still cause problems. Fix all that it finds.

Next install and run RegSupremePro. It will want to create a registry backup, let it. When it is finished, click on the Registry Cleaner tab, select Aggressive at the popup box, let it run. When it is finished, click on Select, choose All. Click on Fix.

Then run CCleaner again, and please post another HJT log. Thanks,

TTFN

Thanks guys. That was enough to keep me busy for a while. I've carried out all the prescribed fixes and attached an updated HJT log.

Cheers.

p.s. I tried to attach the file, but I see no indication of a successful upload, so I've also pasted it into the text.
