:-D Hi Clare, don't kill it yet. I just started looking at your HJT log, give me a couple of minutes. Also, if you are frantic, download ewido, install it, run the update and then run the program, fix anything that it finds save the log and post it back here.
Here is the download location for ewido. http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

:-) Hey Clare,

I found a couple of things on your log. But their not really serious. They could be affecting your key strokes, but that isn't what they are known for. So here is what I would like you to do.

First hit Ctrl + Alt + Del all together, that will bring up your task manager. Under Processes, look for VVSN.exe. Right click on it, and end the process.

Next I want you to rerun HijackThis and fix the following

The last entry isn't malware, but it's missing half of it's information.

Next, I would like you to reboot into Safe Mode, just keep tapping on the F8 key while you are booting up and select Safe Mode.

Click on Run and type in MSCONFIG, then click on Launch System Restore, next click on System Restore Settings, and click in the box to shut it down. Click on yes when it asks if you are sure. Close out of MSCONFIG.

Next, delete all of the files in the following folders, C:/Windows/Prefetch and Temp, C:/Documents and Settings/Your Account/Local Settings/Temp (except for the IE folder if it is visible,) and Temporary Internet Folders

Last, I would like you to redo the instructions you followed from Rdstar and then reboot normally. Let's see if that fixes your issues.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

I fixed the problems with the HiJack This log, but the above wouldn't work as it says you can't run System Restore in safe mode

I did take your earlier advice and install and run ewido, which picked up a lot. Thanks

Clare

:-) Glad to hear you've fixed your problem. I should have had you turn off system restore in regular mode, sorry. If the problem returns. Just follow the System Restore info prior to booting in Safe Mode, and follow the other instructions. Hopefully that won't be an issue you have to deal with.

Take care,
