Default [Fixed] Internet Explorer Problem

Hello out there

I have Windows XP Home.? ? I am on a Cable Internet connection,? and have never had a problem.
However,? in the past couple of weeks,? I cannot access ONE PARTICULAR website.....amazon.com
I can get to it by going through AOL,? ?but cannot with Internet Explorer.? ? Someone suggested I
look in the "host" file in windows\system32\drivers\etc file,? ?but it seems to be ok,? with only the local
numbers listed there.? ?Has anyone ever has this problem?? I have Norton Anti Virus 2005,? which I
run daily,? and see nothing there.

Thanks
Ginny Gilmore

Hello, could you try a number of things for me:

Check your settings in Internet Explorer

1) Go into Internet Explorer
2) Click on Tools
3) Click on Internet Options
4) Click on the Security tab (This should be set to Medium)
5) Cliock on the Privacy tab (This should be set to Medium)

Once you have done that, come out of Internet Explorer

Next you need to perform Spyware checks and get some spyware protection tools on your computer.? All of which can be found here: http://www.pchelpforum.com/forum/ind...oard,57.0.html

Next after you have done that, try clearing you Tempory Internet files and cookies, this can be done by follwoing these steps:

1) Go into Internet Explorer
2) Click on Tools
3) Click on Internet Options
4) Click on the General tab
5) On the second section on the page you should see something called Tempory Internet Files.
6) Click on Delete Cookies
7) Click on Delete Files

Also flush your cache by pressing ctrl and f5 together

Quit Internet Explorer and go back into it again.? That should solve your problem.

Post back and let me know how you get on

I tried all the things you suggested. Still cannot get to Amazon.com
I keep getting the message. "This page cannot be displayed". Every other
website works.

Could you try and run some antispyware software and see whether that rectifies the problem, otherwise run a regcleaner program. You can find links in my signature "Handy Tools"

If all else fails then run HiJackthis and post the log here.
