Default [Pending] Help with MyDoom.t Virus

My sister's PC is currently infected with mydoom.t, and she has come to me for advice on how to fix it. So far, I have only managed to find manual registry changes, which I am not comfortable with talking her through, so was wondering if anyone knows of a removel tool that I could recommend to her?

To my suprise, AVG has identified the infection, but seems unable to remove it.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Default Help with MyDoom.t Virus

Hi S4lly and welcome to PCHF.

This is a great "all in one tool" that you could try: http://download.nai.com/products/mca...rt/stinger.exe
Let us know how it goes

What operating system is she using? If it is XP then she may want to refer to this post re: the system restore function::

If you are running XP it may also be worth turning off System Restore as some "nasties" can hide in there.

You can turn restore back on again after a re-boot as switching it off will delete any system restore information held in your pc.

PLEASE NOTE THE ABOVE POINT - BY TURNING SYSTEM RESTORE OFF IT WILL ERASE ANY SYSTEM RESTORE INFORMATION HELD IN THE HIDDEN SYSTEM RESTORE FOLDER! Also have a look at any programs you may have installed recently that may be re-infecting you.
