Default [FIXED] explorer problem

I can open one internet explorer window, but if i try to open a second, the first window dissappears as if I had clicked the x in the top right hand corner, and the arrow turns into a little red circle with a line across it like the ghostbusters red circle line thing, without the ghost, and then changes back to a normal arrow. ?Do I have a virus, or has something else gone wrong?

Thanks for any help ? (:

Difficult to say. Have you tried to repair you IE installation, how you do it depends on the OS you are running. Also do you have an anti virus product installed and is it up to date. If you have run it and check the computer, if not get one installed ASAP. AVG is a good one (www.grisoft.com)

I have AVG, and already scanned the whole hard drive, but how would I repair my IE installation? (:

Default explorer problem

when I scanned the hard drive, some files had to be put in the vault, but the problem was happening before I checked the drive. And still is. Also, I updated avg today, and it quarantined or mended all viruses it found and the problem is still happening

Default explorer problem

Hi liam666666 and welcome to PC Help Forum (please check your private messages).

Interesting problem. You don't have a popup stopper installed do you ?

Make sure the first thing you do is visit Windows Update - run the scan - install all new patches and fixes that are there. Have you ever added the Internet Explorer Service Pack 1?
