Also with Zonealarm and Norton your get the popups asking about different programs accessing the net, but with XP's own one you don't, does this mean it lets all programs through?
the XP firewall will still let all programs through, it basically does not allow some (not all) connections to get through to your computer, and it shuts up annoying little windows messenger (not the one through msn, the one that ppl spam u with). dont trust the xp firewall, download or purchase a stronger one

Default What Firewall ?

I use NAVP & ZA on W2K PC's all through a Vigor 2200 router/firewall - see draytek.com - don't know anything about xp

Default What Firewall ?

I have heard that when SP2 comes out (XP) the firewall will ask for access. But then again i could be wrong.

I meant programs to ask for access through the firewall!

Default What Firewall ?

Good ole XP Firewall here. I was looking at getting a better software firewall but with XP Service Pack 2 coming soon I don't think I'll bother.
