Default Viewing ftp

Hi Folks

we are trying to view an external ftp from our network. we are running ISA, i have allowed IP packet filters, protocol rules and site and content rules and i thought this would work but no joy. i have set internet explorer to enable ftp viewing. Does anyone know of any other settings that need to be changed?

any help would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Adam

Hi Adam,

What rules have been applied exactly, and also, in what order?

Remember, if there is a rule the denies FTP access further up the list, then any rules you have to allow will be ignored.

Have you port forwarded FTP from the router to the ISA server, and from the ISA server to the FTP server?

hi

changed the IP Packet filter, i am now able to access the ftp site through our ISA server but not through the other two or any of our clients. thought this might be the firewall on the client PC so i added both ports 20 & 21 to the exceptions but cannot access the site.

i have checked and there are not blocked rules that should affect this issue.

Any ideas

Cheers

Adam

Hi Adam, can you explain, "the other two"? If it works for some and not others then it must be on the client. Make sure they are connecting Active rather than Passive. Passive requires ports above 1023 to be opened as well.
