Unhappy Help needed please - no internet connection

Hi,
I bought a new laptop last week when i moved house and didn't have broadband installed. I borrowed a 3G data card modem from someone at work and that was working just fine. I then installed norton antivirus and then the 3G connection stopped working.
I have now bought the laptop to my friends house to see if I could connect to her wireless network and it says that I'm connected but it is limited and can't connect to the internet. So I have plugged in a network cable and it's working ok, so it's clearly a problem with the wireless settings (her wireless laptop works perfectly)
I tried uninstalling norton and it still didn't work, and then I installed it again but turned off all firewall settings and still it didn't work.............
Does anyone have any ideas please?

Try this if you haven't already:

Start Norton 360.
Click Settings.
Uncheck Phishing Protection.
Click Close.
Try to access Internet.

Hi - that didn't work, tried to connect using the 3g modem and getting the following error:
Error 720: a connection to the remote computer could not be established. you might need to change the network settings for this connection.

Did you receive the above error, at your current location, prior to taking the steps above?
I'm trying to establish if the steps above, with Norton, have made any difference.

Have you tried connecting other than with the 3G card?

Right, slight improvement, have now managed to connect to the wireless internet but still having probs with the 3G card (which is the one I need to use when I go back home)
I have had the same error message in both locations ever since I installed the 3G card.
I'm afraid I don't have another one to try

Ok, connect using your wireless connection as you'll need to download a file to your problem laptop.

Symantec have a utility for just this problem.

Try following the instructions on this page .

Let me know how you get on.
