OK I'm trying to Share media from my windows xp computer with my xbox 360. I know that the Personal firewall that is in Norton Internet security is causing the problem cause when I turn the firewall off the xbox immediatly gets the song list and shares with the computer... if I turn the firewall back on it losses connection with the Xbox. So, what I need help with is whether or not I can configure the firewall to allow open sharing on my home network. If anyone can help that would be awesome. Oh and it's a '07 internet security... or '08... one of those.

AS in windows firewall,there should be an allow list.Check its not blocked xbox in your settings

Have you checked xbox website they got a great help guid and hope to setup and configure?



Firstly you need to go into the HH and find the IP address for the xbox.

Then go into Norton and click on the Norton Security Online tab

Then click on Settiings and Personal Firewall, Then click on configure.

Then click on Trust Control, and Trusted Tab

Click on add and enter the IP address for the xbox (192.168.1.xxx)

Are you using a wirless router?


Norton Internet Security and Norton Personal Firewall

1. Double click the Norton Icon on your desktop
2. Once NIS is loaded click on Personal Firewall
   Click the configure button that appears in the bottom right hand corner
3. If you have set a password you will need to enter it here
4. On the top right of the screen click the Advanced tab
5. Click General Rules
6. Click Add
7. Select Permit (Click the Next button when applicable*)
8. Click connections to and from other computers*
   Click Any Computer*
9. Under 'What protocols do you want to permit?' click TCP and UDP
10. Under 'What types of communications do you want to permit?' Click the only types of communications or ports listed below
11. Click Add
12. Click individually specified ports
13. You will need to repeat step 12 until the following ports are opened (3074 & 88), and a rule is created for both 'Local' and 'Remote'
14. Click Next
15. Name it 'Xbox Live'

thanks I saw something about an allow and it asked for an ip... let me check to see what my xbox is...

Your MOST welcome dragon,Hope its now sorted?I dont own an xbox but have read up on it like how to?You know also as long as you have windows firewall on then you could switch nortons off it would not halm pc.Any more problems please come back.
