Default [Pending] Need someone familiar with eTrust.

I finally got around to getting rid of my crappy norton and installed eTrust Internet Security Suite. It's all fine and dandy other than the fact that it's seemingly making my computer(might just be internet) slower. Also when I get on to play counter-strike I experience quite low frame rates (teens to 40s, used to get 60-100) and every few minutes I freeze in game completely (can't move, cant shoot, nothing goes on around me). That freeze goes on for about 10+ seconds then I catch back up with the server to find out I have died . I believe it's an issue with the configuration of the eTrust Personal Firewall but I'm not 100% sure. Any insight on this issue would be appreciated as I would like to resolve it as soon as possible.

Thanks

Hi Blackrush,

I'm personally not all that familiar with eTrust myself, are you sure you've got norton completely removed and windows firewall turned off?

Yes, norton is completely gone (pretty freaking sure it is) and the windows firewall is off. I believe that the issue lies withing the eTrust Personal Firewall settings because it can be fully customized as to your security level and what to allow and pretty much everything. I'm just new to eTrust so I have no idea what the issue is. Hopefully someone has an answer.

Thanks

Norton hides lots of bits and pieces around in dark corners-- it can be a bear to get rid of completely. You might have some code lurking somewhere still trying to operate.

Well I never experienced this problem when I had norton so no idea why it would even have to do with that. That's why I keep persisting on it being an issue with the new firewall settings or something like that.

Well... if you have little pieces of the old security software still active-- it can cause conflicts with the new software causing all kinds of weird issues.
Norton even makes a "remover" for their products because (I believe) they received so many complaints.

Download Norton Removal Tool 1.20.4 - SymNRT is a program that can remove some Norton software from your computer - Softpedia

I don't know if I'd try running it with your current software running, though.
