Nice one GaRHaR, he's a good guy is old GaRHaR!

No, the HiJack this logs look pritty much perfect. The only program I didn't recognise is a program called NetOP. Looks like some remote management, possibly desktop managment software. I don't think this would cause a problem, but you could always stop this to see if this resolves you problem.

Something else you can do to rule out any software problems, is to do the following:

- Click on Start, Run, and type in msconfig
- Click on the Services Tab
- Click on Hide All Microsoft Services
- Untick all the services you see that are Running.

Reboot, and test.
If no change, go back and reverse the above process. And then do the following:

- Click on Start, Run, and type in msconfig
- Click on the Startup Tab
- Untick and note everything you see here, as you may find some already unchecked, and you won't want to re-enabled these later.

Reboot, and test.
If still no change, then we have ruled out any third party apps to cause this problem.

Heh well i use the good PC as a jukebox mainly and im so lazy i cant be arsed to walk across the room to change track etc so NetOp is indeed a remote desktop management program where i can control the PC from this one and i used it all the time before the problem started so im certain its not that.

In regards to the startup services, i disabled everyting as you described however the problem is still apparent so i guess we've ruled out third party software...hooray?

It does seem pretty impossible, the best i can manage is a gentle 'lolloping' motion, i dont actually know ANYONE whos eyes vibrate like beans in a washing machine when they laugh....
Mmm a nice drink, just the job for a seemingly hopeless situation such as this!

Hey I'm not gunna give up on you yet!!

OK, yeah, this rules out any third party software, but it only gets more difficult from here!

So, the problem lies somewhere between Windows XP and the hardware up to the router/ISP. That leaves:

- A Windows XP problem.
Some file or registry corruption. An undetected virus or spyware.

May be a good idea to re-install your network card driver if you know how to do this?

- A network card problem
How many network ports do you have on your PC?

- A problem with the ethernet (cat5) cable itself.
If you are using an ethernet cable, may be a good idea to swap this one if you can. It is not likely to be the cause of the problem since there is still some connectivity, but I once has a network cable, where I could only intermittently receive packets through it!

- A router/ISP problem
You don't have problems with your other PC. But I have listed this, since we still haven't explained why Port Detective was showing those ports as disabled.
