Default [Resolved] Blocking ports 21 and 23...

Howdy guys. I recently tried an online security scan on my pc, was curious.
I was using Zone Alarm (free) and it told me that port 21 (ftp) and port 23 (telnet) were open. So, I tried Zone Alarm's security suite and tried again...still open even after I tried to specifically block them. Got rid of Zone Alarm suite and tried Norton PF 2006...and the same 2 ports are still open

Any ideas on how I can close them? I was going to purchase Zone Alarm Pro, but it wont do what I want it to do (maybe I missed something in the configuration process?) Any help greatly appreciated!

Thank you....Nikki

Hi Nikki.

I believe both ZoneAlarm and Norton stealth all ports by default.

Do you recall the exact message that you got from ZoneAlarm Suite? Also, are you using a router (or a hardware firewall) by any chance?

Howdy Chia....not that I know of. I'm not too sure what a router or hardware firewall are...so I probably dont have them lol
It was around 5 different online security scans that told me these ports were open. I've heard of ftp, but no idea what telnet does...sounded bad though!

What about the exact message that you got from ZoneAlarm suite? Can you recall?

Hi there, do you use FTP software at all?

Port 20 FTP data (File Transfer Protocol)
Port 21 FTP (File Transfer Protocol)

Can we double check ZA's findings by you running the free tests here: https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 - check common ports and all service ports and report back with the results.
