Hi there.

I have been having trouble with my toshiba satellite l300. Basically the backlight will not come on.

I have tested the lid close switch that is magnetic and turns the screen off. I have tried the laptop using an external monitor and it all works great.
I can see the image very dim on the screen.

I recently purchased an inverter board from ebay that did not work, I then purchased a backlight that does not work. I then read up on testing the inverter board to make sure it is receiving power from the motherboard. I used the test on this web page Laptop Repair Help » How to test LCD screen inverter in a laptop. The test did not show any voltage from the positive to negative probe, I was worried that maybe I have a problem with the motherboard but I tried the test again and my probe slipped and bridged pin 1 and 2 on the power side of the inverter and hey presto the backlight cam on, but only when I bridge the gap.

Can anyone suggest a possible problem (Or do you think the inverter I got from ebay that said (tried and tested) is goosed?

Thanks for your help.

I have a dell inspiron 6400 and this weekend the sound stopped working. I think the problem is going to be that my sound card is messed up, but I wanted to see if you guys could help me any. It started this weekend after my screen came lose and tilted back some when I picked it up and the computer completely shut off. The screw was a little lose and it was enough to make it fall back when the laptop was plugged in and I assume that's why it shut off because I tightened the screw and it hasn't shut off again but the sound stopped working.

There is no sound from the speakers or from headphones. I have checked every setting I know and it is not muted any place that I could find. I have uninstalled the drivers and restated to let windows reinstall the drivers and I have uninstalled the audio device from the device manager and let windows find that again and both did not work. When I go to control panel/sound while I have music playing there is a bar beside the device that is going up and down like it thinks it is playing something, but I still can't hear anything. I also have used Replay Music in the past so I tried that and it does not detect that anything is playing like it use to. I have run a virus scan with AVG and also ran Malware and found nothing. Any suggestions?

Hello, today a weird problem started with my laptop.

I could be surfing the web, playing a game, watching a movie or just typing out an email and for an unknown reason, my laptop screen will go black, its still bright black meaning the lights are on(not the dark black as if its off), and I still can hear the sounds and even continue typing/playing, but I cant see anything, not even the mouse, and this happens randomly at random times and I have no idea why it keeps happening or how to solve it.
Thing is, it keeps just randomly happen, at first I thought if i kept it in a certain position it would work because maybe some wiring was faulty, but i can move the screen any position without it going black, it just seems really weird as i never had it before.

Any help could be greatly appreciate it, thank you.

And just cause it describes how i feel, here is a smiley! #!#

Hi,

I have a Toshiba satellite A210, which i got about a year and a half ago. It

has Windows Vista. At random times, the screen goes black! I cannot do

anything, I try clicking and pressing keys, but nothing. The fan is still running,

and when I listen to music and this happens, the song stops. The way I

have to get the computer to work again is holding the power button and

restarting. When i first got my computer, this happened a few times, but

after that for about 6 months it never happened. Recently i reformatted

my laptop to factory settings, and now it happens everyday. I know it is

not a cable issue, nor a temperature issue.

What can I do to fix this? is it a bad copy of windows?THANKS*ye%
