I just set up my new J4580 Fax, copy and scanner. I either did something wrong, or I made a HUGE error buying it. The phone line is shared by both voice and fax. If I put the machine on "automatic," when I answer the phone, if it IS a fax, it won't switch over automatically. If I put the machine on "manual," I can't get to the machine, (which is in another room) fast enough to push the button to make it receive the fax. Then I also have the problem of having to remember to make the switch from manual to auto EVERY TIME I leave the room?

Am I missing something? Or was this machine developed by someone who NEVER uses a fax machine?

Previously witn a chap lexmark I could scan pictures to the my pictures folder and then quickly burn to CD/DVR.
Have HP 8500 Officejet now. Have several options to scan pictures. I have scanned to Word and also to file. In word there is only an icon and no picture. In scanning to file they go do My Scans. But there is no method to burn them to CD or DVR. I have even tried scanning them to HP Essential with the same results. Any Suggestions.
Thanks

Hello, I've just installed a CIS system for my Epson printer and seem to be getting errors whilst attempting to use it. I am informed that there appears to be a foreign object inside the printer and get two orange error lights.

My first question is where can I get a service manual for this printer from the internet for free, one which details how to dismantle the printer so that I can check everything appears to be okay? I've done rather a lot of searching on google for this information, with no luck.

My second is why am I hearing strange noises? The noises are sort of clicky and occur during the proceedure whereby the printer prepares itself to print and at startup. These noises always occur when the print carriage is over the waste ink pad.

Any ideas?

Thank you for your consideration.

So a few days I purchased black ink and the cx7400 requires you to charge the ink once its in, you follow the steps through the replacement program and what not, but I totally forgot about it so I put the ink in and thought it would be ok. So I try printing and nothing happens. It recognizes the ink but it isnt using it. So i took it back thinking i effed up the ink and got a new one. This time i did it correctly with the steps and charging the ink and it said it worked, yet it still wont use the ink. It wont print anything black. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi all,

I currently have an Epson RX425 printer connected to my base computer which is running Windows XP. The printer is then shared through the network.

As expected, my other XP machines work fine but I can't seem to get my Win7 laptop to recognise any drivers. When trying to install the printer on the laptop, I can see it on the network but can't get the driver.

I've downloaded the drivers which are apparently 'vista compatible', but upon opening the installer a message appears warning of 'known incompatibility issues' and continuing just crashes the installer.

Clicking on the 'Check for solutions on-line' button on the error message just sends the laptop searching for few seconds before the window just disappears with no indication that it has/hasn't found anything.

I appreciate that this is a bit specialist, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rich
