Hi

I not quite sure about what topic to post this so If its in the wrong place I apologise.

Here’s my problem...

I have been suffering...

Hi

I not quite sure about what topic to post this so If its in the wrong place I apologise.

Here’s my problem...

I have been suffering now for the last 4 years with a daily tension-type headache and burning eyes that has never completely gone away apart from two weeks when I went on holiday and was away from a computer. When I get up in the morning its only a slight twinge. When I get to work and am working on my comp it starts to flare up almost instantly and get gradually more and more uncomfortable as the day goes on.

So what’s causing this headache - my LCD monitor. (the current screen I use at work and at home is the Dell E178FPv lcd).

Now....I've tried everything, trust me. From changing the refresh rate to its highest setting to adjusting the brightness and contrast. CRTs make it even worse so I stay clear of them totally. If I change the refresh rate back to 60hz on my monitor it makes it even worse. So, I'm beginning to think that maybe this might have something to do with the refresh rate. But is there any point in me purchasing a 120hz lcd screen if refresh rate/flicker is not applicable to LCD's?

However, I have a 42inch plasma in my front room and when I'm playing my Xbox 360 I find that my headache remains unchanged. If I play on my Xbox 360 upstairs on a 26inch Hitachi lcd tv, I find my headache gets worse. Now here is the puzzling part. Even though I can play my Xbox 360 on my plasma without my headache getting worse I do get a headache when I plug my pc to the plasma. I'm absolutely bamboozled.

I'm also thinking it could be something to do with the technology itself. Is there any screens out there that don't have backlight source to display the picture. Can anyone recommend any display type to me

I cannot avoid computers as I'm an graphic designer/web marketer. Its what I know and do. I'm really becoming depressed with it now and need to get this resolved. Can anyone help me, is there anybody that has experienced similar symptoms.

Regards

Hello PC Help Forum!

I'm in need of some help and it's been a long long time since i've built my own PC and with all these new hardware coming out i feel as if my old school building days have been forgotten.

Here's my rig setup so far.

Intel DX975BX Motherboard
Intel pentium D 945 sl9qq costa rica @ 3.4ghz
Kingston dual-channel 533 DDR2 2gig
Accelero 8800GT 512MB PCI-E
Scythe 2 CPU Cooler

So, after putting it all together and making sure everything is placed correctly I go to turn on my computer and it turns on. I see the motherboard light on and case on. All fans are running fine and there are no beeps at all.

From this point my monitor does not display anything as if it were in sleep mode. I tried removing parts and can't seem to get it to post at all. I tested the parts (except for the CPU since it didnt fit on my friends mobo) and they all work fine, HD, GPU, PSU, RAM, and CPU cooler. I am thinking now that maybe my CPU may be bad or either the mobo itself.

If anyone could please help me that'd be greatly appreciated. Right now i have no one personally (that lives around my city) who knows more about computers than me. I have a a really close friend but he's all the way in San Diego -_- I don't like going to retail stores cuz this is something I know can be fixed on my own with a little help.

Thanks!

- Jan

Hello last night I had a bit of trouble with my pc. I own a packard bell and last night when I turned it on it came up on the screen boot to cd as normal but then it came up twice and the comp wouldnt boot. I left it for a while and it stil didn't. Again I left it for another 5 mins and then it did. This has happened a couple of times a few months ago but it stopped and I never thought any more of it. I unplugged my modem and power cable last night and this morning I put them back i and booted the comp up and she worked fine. What is the cause of this?

Hey All, Great site!
Was hoping to get a little insight on some hardware that would work with the mb/cpu I have. That is if the mb is worth what I'm trying to do with it.

I'd like to build a decent gaming rig. I haven't really done any PC gaming in probably 10 years. ( Unreal Tournament, lol ) So needless to say I'm a bit rusty and would like to get some help.

First off. Would my Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2 / 2.66 Dual Core / 2 gig ram be worth the build? ( Already have it )

Second. The list of video cards blow my mind. I thought AGP was the way to go. I guess the PCI-E may be better now but still unsure. How would I determine which card is going to be best suited for the mother board. I hate to buy a nice video card and not be able to use it to it's full advantage because of something the mother board won't support..

Appreciate any help,

I will be using the computer to play World of Warcraft - Grand theft auto 4 - Call of duty 4-5-6(when it comes out) Batman arkham asylum ect

i just wanted a bit of advice of maybe sites that i can get the parts cheaper or get similar parts more cheaper and obviously parts that will work together

I'm looking to upgrade my old bucket with a new motherboard CPU and RAM. I've had a good google but have now realised that I've been out of the hardware market too long#!#.

I'm looking for a workhorse not a gaming system so not interested in SLI or crossfire. Also looking for stability not overclocking.
Intel or AMD? I've always gone with AMD in the past
Onboard sound, any will do providing its got a line out.
Onboard graphics are essential but they don't have to be upto much as will upgrade that later.
Minimum 1xIDE 4xsata 1xpci 1xpcie16x 2xpcie DDR2 800MHz
CPU and RAM do not have to be brilliant. I would rather have a better motherboard and have to upgrade the CPU and RAM later.

And remember children. . The word of the day is. . C H E A P..

Thanks in advance for any and all help and suggestions:mrgreen:
