limited connectivity when turning pc on

my pc is running vista and the internet on wireless. the internet and pc is fine. the problem is every time i turn on the pc the connection icon in the corner just says limited connectivity and i normally have to click on "connect or disconnect", disconnect it, then reconnect. it works all the times ive done this, just so frustrating, ive had the pc ages and its done it every time ive turned the pc on.

hi everyone
this is my first time in this forum , i heared its the best, so
i have a weird problem with my dell inspiron 6400
i have a windows 7 ultimate, when i first installed the OS i got a connection to the internet, but when i shut down the pc and opend it the second time i had a connection to the router but it says "no internet connection"
now the weird thing is when i had the windows xp i had the same problem but when i desconnect from the router it connects automatically again with internet access, unfortunately this doesnt work with th windows 7.

can someone please help me cuz this is really annoying.

Hey, i have a windows xp. I also have wireless internet available but it wont connect. Once it recognises the available wireless broadband network, i try to to connect but says "windows is unable to connect to the selected network, may no longer be in range bla bla" All the devices ect are enabled. Tried disabling it then enabling, still hasn't helped. The broadband does require a pass key, but hasn't come up asking for it as i dont think its even getting that far! lol. My other computer works fine on the network so its not that. Im using a Belkin wireless usb hardware thingi, worked fine few months back on other networks?
Any help you would be muchly appreciated thanks :-)

New Wireless Router - Slow Internet Speeds

I now share internet connection with my neighbor, and i set up his wireless router. I followed directions, all went well, but in the end the internet speeds were slow.

After a while of changing things around he finally got home and i restarted the router (wait 10+ seconds and turn on again). That worked perfectly and jumped my internet connection to 5+ mb/s, now it like <2 mb/s and very spiky (it like jumps from .20+). It's just overall very spiky.

However, even when it was 5 mb/s it was acting weird, like i would load a youtube video, it wouldn't load, i'd refresh the page and it would work once again, that happened to bunch of videos/homepages. Now its back to being bad again, and have to wait for him to restart lol.

If i restart it from router settings it doesn't help at all.

The router: Wireless-N Broadband Router WRT160N - Linksys by Cisco

I initially had WPA 2 protection, then i changed it to WEP thinking it was the problem but it wasn't.

Its on DHCP, so everything is automatic. Only 2 fields that aren't filled in settings are host name and domain name (but don't think those were too necessary).

So i don't know, it works perfectly if you restart it, but then it goes back to being bad =[

Laptop wireless?!?!

Ahh back here again :(

So i had a few issues with my laptop where i had no space left on my hard drive so i decided to wipe it and re install vista with the disc that came with my laptop when i brought it. My problem is that my wireless button doesnt turn on, no notification comes up and same with the light :(

My laptop is a fujitsu siemens li1718

Have looked on device manager to see if the wireless card is there and it is, with no question mark by it.

Have also updated the driver from device manager but nothing

Any help would be super!

Resolved: Windows 7 Homegroup

Hi.

I have a desktop PC running Windows & Home Premium and a netbook running Windows 7 Starter. I have a Belkin N router, and the Desktop is connect via cable to the router. The Netbook connects by wireless.

I have set up a Homegroup on the Desktop. The netbook connects perfectly to the Internet, but when I type in the network password, it says it is incorrect and will not connect to the homegroup.

However, on the Desktop I can see the shared files on the Netbook, but not vice versa.

It is driving me mad. I'm sure I have done something wrong but I cannot fathom it out.

Any suggestions?

Resolved: Atheros ar5007 xp driver?

I have a compaq presario f700 laptop that I took vista off of and put xp on, well now I cannot seem to find a driver for the wireless network adapter. It has a atheros ar5007 wireless internet adapter and the only drivers I can seem to find are for vista. any suggestions or does anyone know where or what driver I can use for this adapter so I can finish this stupid driver. Thanks

DIR-615, Unable to get IP address from router

It's quite difficult for me to describe the problem as it's very strange.

We have 6 laptops (IBM T60 and T61, Fujitsu and Toshiba) using Window XP, Vista and Window 7. The problem with my DIR-615 router is like this (plz note that the symptom is different for different OS )

For Window Vista (T60 and T61):

Problem:
We are usually unable to connect to the router through wireless, the connection process stops at "Configure your IP address" and it can not get the IP address from router. There's no problem when using cable.
Solving:
I've tried these steps:

+Connect to the router through cable and then log in
+Configure the wireless setting again (just change something and then change back, so in total I've changed nothing) and save the setting

It worked 100% BUT when we turn off and turn on the laptop again, the problem is back. That's all for Window Vista

For Window XP (Fujitsu)
Problem:
Problem is the same,
Solving
We can connect to wireless every time we try these step:

+ Connect to the router through CABLE
+ Wait for the connection to complete (cable connection)
+ Turn on wireless network connection

After that the wireless connection can get IP from router and then we can use it as usual.

Note: we do not need to reset router as in the case of Window Vista.

For Window 7 (T60 and Toshiba)
No problem at all

I've tried to change all the parameters in router (reserve IP, Auto channel scan, WPA, WPA2 etc) but it did not solve the problem.

So any advise for my case before I bring it to D-Link customer service @_@

Hello Tec's I have a question, I bought a new Netgear N router, and jus looking around in the config. Its got 3 options to change the frequency (i think) I jus wanted to know, what is that for? When would i need to use it?

Conects to router then disconnects its self

I have a Netgear DG834GT router and a Belkin G wireless USB Adapter.

I have just recently got the wireless adapter and it was working fine for the first couple of weeks then it started to disconnect itself.

It connects for about 5 - 10 minutes then it disconects.

This is really annoying :tickedoff

intermittend wireless connection problem

Hi I have intermittend wireless connection problem this is the same setup for about 2 years now (connected wireless to another laptop with Vista and wirless connected to printer) and never had a problem until about 3-4 month ago, it dropped my local network connection, the internet was slow in between.

Troubleshooted the router upgraded firmware etc didn't worked, purchased a new linksys router and it worked great for about 1 month same problems creeping up again loosing my local network connection, internet is sometimes slow.
My laptop is windows XP.

Any ideas what else it could be. When I run a CAT5 cable it's working, but that is not very practical in our office setup.
I clean all my cookies, etc on a reg basis, I ran Norton Systems work a few times.

But the little PC in my taskbar is showing status connected, Speed 54 Mbps.

Any help ideas etc will be greatly appreciate, can't afford right now to buy a new laptop.

Fixed: cannot connect to wireless

i have a gateway laptop that i bough from wal-mart in feb.of o9.have had no problems with it.sorry i dont have the model # with me right now.recently it will not connect to a wireless network.looked under the control panel and all the drivers are working correctly.took it to a tech guy that said the internal wireless card was probably shot.i am not very tech savy but very handy.where do i find this part if it is so the problem?looked like it was very simple to remove.also,how do i get discs from a mac that was downloaded with quick time to play on my computer.have downloaded quick time to computer but still doesnt work.also will not read on a dvd player.any suggestions???

Can't connect to network drive with wireless

Hi,

I just got an Zyxel NSA-220 Plus hard drive. I have set it up according to the manual. It's nothing wrong with it, as I can use it perfectly if I use an ethernet cable.

The NSA is connected to one of the ports in Speedtouch 585 router.

I have tried to connect wireless with 3 different computers both wireless and cable, and its the same result. Works with cable, not wireless.

* The login page (to the NSA) won't show. It shows with cable. If I use wireless after this, the page shows, but only because of cache. I can log in, but i get a lot of errors, loading problems etc.
* I can map all 'shares' on the drive, but i can only observe what on them. I can not copy, paste or open any files on them.

The hard drive does not show in networks on the PC. The local IP is correct (10.0.0.5 on disk, 10.0.0.X (not 5) on pc etc.)

I have used a lot of hours trying to solve this now, and I really need som help!#!#

Wireless N PCI board or 25dbi antenna?

Hi!

I study in a large university that has full covered wireless access. But there is some shadows thought the campus. So there is a building where I work eventually that the signal is too weak.
The awkward part is that some notebooks (especially the ones with wireless N protocol) can connect and surf ok. But the desktop machine where many people work on with can't even "see" the network.
I tried a 10dbi antena (that is much more than the notebooks ones) placed in a strategic position and nothing.

Too many people depend on this computer and they are putting me under pressure for a quick solution.

So, the first solution that I found was to buy a directional antenna with 25dbi.
The second one is to buy a N PCI board for the computer (as notebooks work fine).
Both has the same price!

I can't afford a mistake and I'll buy only one of the two solutions.

What are your suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card

I have a dell vostro 1500 and having probs with the Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card.
What happens:
I turn my laptop on and notice the wirless light is off ?
I go into hardware manager to enable it and its gone from the list.
I installed latest driver for it and it worked for about 2 weeks then failed again with no light, re-installed driver but then said no hardware found abort install?
I then removed the card(re-boot) re-install(re-boot) and it worked for awile but had to keep removing the card as above to get to work every so often ( will work for 2-3 weeks) and now that don't work anymore.
Any suggestions here ? did some searching and found I'm not the onlyone haveing this problem but only advise I see is installing the driver again ? which don't work for me...........
