:BangHead: I'm working on an article for English 101, college level. It's all written in longhand. I"m typing it into Microsoft Word to turn in TOMORROW and I get an error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Runtime Error. Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10\WINWORD.EXE. abnormal program termination.

Other than closing the program and losing my work, what does this mean and how can I fix it? I don't expect an answer tonight(although that would be wonderful!) but the sooner I solve this, the better it will be for my grade. Thank you in advance to anyone able to correct this situation for me. #!#

I've recently started experiencing a problem with mkv2vob and getting it to run. For those that don't know, mkv2vob is a simple conversion tool that will convert any .mkv file to a .vob file so that it can be played on a Playstation 3.

I tried to run the program today but received the following error message:

"Component 'mscommctl.ocx' or one of it's dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

Upon receiving this error message I fully un-installed the program and removed all traces including registry keys. I then reinstalled but am still getting the same error.

Any help you guys may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

I've been trying to install a printer driver on a windows xp pro machine and can't figure out whats going on. The install program is Installshield and when I double click the install file it tells me I need to complete a previous install first. I've tried rebooting multiple times and used the MSI Cleaner from MS (but this isn't a msi installer either). I've check through the registry based on Google searches but nothing. Does anyone have any thoughts?

I'm also trying to install Kaspersky Anti-virus but the installation keeps on stopping in the middle, and I think it might be due to the same problem. I'm really worried because I have no anti-virus software right now.

I've tried downloading Windows Installer 4.5 but none of the links for the 3 platforms (x86, x64, IA64) "apply to my system."

While first turning on my PC today, I noticed the red x by by the Avast logo in the right corner. Apparently Avast shut itself down, but when I press on either the " program starts" or "fix" icons, it is non-reponsive.

Additionally, I cannot sign into MSN. I get a message that says my name and password cannot be verified.

Fortunately, I can browse the net with my internet explorer 8 browser, so I am able to post this, but I cannot recieve or send e-mails.

The last ime I tried signing in, the MSN page did not even open.

Are these problems related? Should I uninstall and re install avast?

Thanks a lot. Untechguy.

Hi all, this is my first post.

I recently bought a new pc with Win7 loaded. I could not load my trusty video software, Adobe Premiere due to version problems (seemed to be too old...from the XP days I guess) so I bought a copy of Pinnacle's Studio HD. My problem is as follows:
I use a Canon FS10 ( I know it's not a top-of-the line videocam) and the footage as viewed via the lcd seems pretty clear and crisp. When I import into Studio HD the resolution drops when viewed through the preview screen...but it gets worse. When it's burnt to a DVD the resolution is pretty awful....about the same level as an old video tape player.

Is it something I am doing wrong with the set-up perhaps? Anyone else have this problem?

Anything you can share will be most welcome.

Thanks.........Canadian Limey
