Offline gmail not working for me.......

Very soon i have to take off my internet connection..I will try to put it someday...Gmail has offline feature..I thought i can use that atleast...but its not working for me...

When i try to install.....it says ...Installation failed.Ensure that your computer is connected to the internet and that your firewall allows
googleupdate.exe to connect and then try again.Error code = 0*80072ee7 .....and the help page of gmail opens and shows the following below :

Your firewall, anti-virus software or proxy is preventing the program from accessing the Internet. In this case, you need to add it to your security software's exceptions list. If you're using Windows firewall, you can add this program by following these steps:

1. Click Start in your Windows Taskbar and choose Control Panel > Windows Firewall.
2. Select the Exceptions tab.
3. Click the Add Program button.
4. Click Browse and select My Computer from the left side of the window.
5. Select Local Disk (C and click Open.
6. Double-click Program Files > Google > Common.
7. Select the folder with the highest number and open it.
8. Choose the file googleupdate.exe.

If you're using other firewall software, please visit that program's website for specific instructions on how to add applications to the exceptions list.

I tried those...but not working.....

Hi was the PC connected to the internet when you tried this look like it has to be. Try disabling firewall and A/V temporary to see if that is stopping it

I disabled firewall and A/V and that worked like us said --madmatt2006........I installed google gears successfully.

But i cant able to use offline gmail.I disconnected internet and tried putting gmail.com.......But it didnt worked.........In Help section,they mentioned some points to make work offline gmail if it didnt work.I tried all those...But still didnt worked.I have no idea....

Can anyone help ?

This is the disclaimer from Google Labs.

This will include the Offline function, contact Google at the link in the quote as they may have a fix for the problem.

From what I can see, you will still require a internet connection to receive your emaiils from Gmail...

Did you follow Google's instruction to set this up correctly?

We're making offline Gmail available to everyone who uses Gmail in US or UK English over the next couple of days, so if you don't see it under the Labs tab yet, it should be there soon. Once you see it, just follow these steps to get started:

1. Click Settings and click the Labs tab.
2. Select Enable next to Offline Gmail.
3. Click Save Changes.
4. After your browser reloads, you'll see a new "Offline0.1" link in the upper righthand corner of your account, next to your username. Click this link to start the offline set up process and download Gears if you don't already have it.

Please realize that the off-line feature will only allow to read & reply to (but not send or receive) the mail already in your local computer. It is only using Cached information. If you clear your system's cache often, this will NOT work for you.

This problem is not over as it is not working.No problem....anyway....

I dont need this offline gmail.....No help needed furthur for this....
