Default MS Outlook, when copying/moving email size of email nearly doubles

All,

I'm looking for some help here. I'm in a corporate environment using MS Outlook as the email client. I have a user that has access to multiple mailboxes. Personal as well as group utilized mailboxes. This user (and others on his team) are copying and/or moving email from one group mailbox to another. When they copy and/or move the email the size of the actual email is nearly doubling. For instance, an email which was 38k was 66k after being copied.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this and what may be the cause?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Hi there and welcome to PC Help Forum

I can only think that a whole block of info is being added to the header during the move. Have a look at the header of an email prior to and after copying to see if there is something being added.

How are they moving the email, using export? using copy paste? or copying the PST file?

The user is just using the copy/paste function basically from one folder to another but it crosses into a separate mailbox. I've got the local tech looking at the headers to see if there is something odd there. When we move the copied email back to its original location, it retains its increased size. It's only when emails are moved to that mailbox that they increase. Thanks for your help!

Hengis, unfortunately the header information did not change after the move. If you have any other ideas, please let me know. Thanks!!!
