Unhappy Oulook and XP User Accounts Issue - HELP!

Hi All
I'm running Win XP and Outlook 2000 all bang up to date according to Microsoft Update!

I have four accounts on the one pc - so that we could all have our email in Outlook (NOT OUTLOOK EXPRESS).
The problem I'm having is that I get an 'unable to connect to server' message after I have switched xp user accounts. The settings on the email accounts are all correct - as it all works fine if you reboot the computer.
So, in a nutshell, I have four xp accounts but if I want to check email for a different user, I have to reboot the pc - not good.
The user accounts were all working fine until this past weekend - no settings have been changed - only the Microsoft Update and Norton Liveupdate were done - but I can't understand how it could be anything to do with these as the email works fine after a restart (as long as you don't switch user!)
I have also just discovered that it is just the pop3 account that is having this problem - I also have an imap account and that is just fine!
HELP!!
Thanks
Karen
Any more info needed - let me know - it's my first posting!

Hi Kazzi, Welcome to the forum!

I'm not very familiar with outlook myself but we do have a wonderful team of Techs so at least one of us are bound to be.

In the meantime, the only thing I can think of is that maybe the fast user switching setting might be somehow interfering with the access. Have you tried disabling fast user switching?

Thanks for the reply!
I have disabled fast user switching - no effect at all.
I've been trying out a couple of things since the earlier and have found that this problem only happens when the xp user account that was active when the pc was turned on has been logged off - if I just switch users without logging out of whatever account was accessed on startup - everything's fine.

ODD!

Any ideas appreciated - or maybe it's just one of those windows things?

**smiles** Yes possibly one of those two or three little windows things. I'm gong to see if anyone onlie is a bit more familiar than I with outlook and see if they can be of more assistance then, hang tight, I'm positive we'll figure this out.

Hi there and welcome.

Roll back to before your last Windows and Norton updates and re-test.
