Those settings should be checked on the senders end, not the reciever.

Try this, in Outlook, go to: tools/options/security and remove the tick (if present) infront of "Block images and other content in HTML e-mail" and press "apply".

Default Must be different for Outlook

I have outlook, not outlook express. All of the sudden I get the dreaded red x in my emails. This was after I downloaded and installed IE7. I don't have the same options to tick as you told the OP to use. He has express. Can you help me?
