Default How to retrieve Outlook Express account information

I have an unbootable PC (mobo is hosed). At least I have a new one I can use, but first I need to set up my e-mail profile in Outlook Express. If I could access the old machine I would just export it, but how can I do this by mounting the disk on another PC ? I just need to know the password really.

Thanks
FN

Hya Eugeneg.

You should be able to easely attach the HD as a slave drive to the other pc.
Set the jumper on the back of the HD to either "slave" or "cable select" and then attach the HD to the same IDE cable as the primairy HD on the other pc but on the second connection.

Just ask if you have questions.

Sorry - perhaps I was not clear in the original question. I am very comfortable with adding a disk to another system as a slave. My difficulty is in extracting the Outlook Express account information from the slaved disk. I can copy the contents of the 'Outlook Express' folder to get the mail messages, and getting the contacts from the old address book is no problem, but the account information (such as can be exported to a .iaf file on a live system) is where I am struggling.

Thanks.

Hey Eugene,

Welcome back, sorry about the delay.

Have you tried installing the old HDD as a slave? Should be able to connect it to the slave position on your cable. Do you know if the two HDDs are the same type?

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Yes, connecting as a slave drive is no problem. Assuming it is now drive E: (and I am booting off drive C how do I extract the account information from E: - things like account name, password, POP & SMTP server addresses ?
