Default OE Identity Login Box keeps popping up

Hi everyone! I've scoured the interent for answers to this one and am still coming up empty handed - hope someone here can help! I have Windows XP and normally I use incredimail for my email program. Recently my husband switched from using Yahoo Mail to getting his email through Outlook Express. Ever since that time I get the Identity Login box popping up at regular intervals not matter what I'm doing or what program I'm working in. It is so annoying! I do have Norton Internet Security 2005 and I've tried disabling the ingoing/outgoing email scanning and that didn't work. I've also tried every configuration there is managing the "identities" for Outlook Express login to see if that would keep it from happening but to no avail. I went to task manager and found that when the box pops up, it's a process called: CCAPP.exe. I've been to the Microsoft website to see if they had any answers - big surprise there - nothing. I'm hoping someone here can help!

Hi and welcome to PCHF

I would imagine that the reason you have the ID box popping up is because;

a) Outlook Express is still running (although minimized)
b) It is set to check mail (by default) every 30 minutes
c) You haven't put a check mark in the "Remember this password" box in your account settings in Outlook Express

With reference to the CCAPP.exe running, I need you to follow the "Pre-Work" link in my signature as you may have some malware/adware on your PC. Whilst the "normal" CCAPP relates to Norton, there is also a malware version of this process and we will be able to tell you if that is present.

No, my husband logs completely out of Outlook Express when he's finished checking his email. Of course, since we have seperate emails, he won't want to check the "remember this password" box but I will check to see how often it is set to check email. Thank you.

Oh I forgot, I'm absolutely sure it's not adware/malware - I run three programs everyday and it started happening the day we started using Outlook Express, it's definitely something to do with that program expressly.

I tried everything that Hengis told me too and still that stupid box keeps popping up at the most annoying times! Any other suggestions out there?

If you go into options , on the general tab , if you change the "check for new messages every.." from 30 minutes to 1 minute (just to test) , does the login comes up every minute then?
