Unhappy Lost Drafts Folder

Dear Staff, or anyone that can help,

I run Windows XP and use Microsoft Premium along with my DSL... I don't know if this is the place to ask for help, however, if it's not, then can someone please redirect this question to the person or persons who can help me...

I'm 99% on Microsoft Premium/IE and sometimes I have occasion to write e-mails to people about things that come to mind and so, I start an e-mail... While writing these e-mails, I often don't finish them and so I send them to my drafts folder until I can finish them or delete them... I had 20 e-mails going, some of them were rants about one thing or the other and some of them were important, (letters to my kids, etc.)...

Every time I log on, there's a prompter that comes on and says, (you have 20 drafts in your drafts folder!) Sometimes this can be annoying and I'd like to get rid of this prompter, if I can... However, this is not my problem as the other week, when I logged on the prompter didn't come on... It didn't come on because there were no more unfinished e-mails... That's correct, they disappeared... Now I can't find them and as I said before, some of them were very important to me... Can you help me find these drafts please? I'm truly sad about this loss...

Thanks very much, I'm no computer whiz, (only on since 03, off and on), learning by the old "lets see what happens if I do this, oops!", method, although I've gone beyond that very quickly...

Please try to help if you can...

Thanks again,
nicholas

Hey nicholas, welcome to PCHF.
  • When you say you are running Microsoft Premium is it Microsoft Office 2000 Premium?
  • I presume you are using Microsoft Outlook?
  • Have you tried looking through all your folders and just making sure they weren't moved to another folder (also check in deleted items)?
  • Also did you get any prompt asking you to auto-archive your emails?

Hey Zimbo,

Thanks for your welcome...

I do have OE but never use it... I use IE which comes with the Microsoft Premium...

Perhaps I should tell you that when I log on, I double click the butterfly on my desk top, (Verizon on-line DSL with MSN)... Then I'm connected to MSN Explorer... I then click the envelope which gets me to my MSN Mail... While there, I have the option of reading my mail, (in box) or checking the junk mail and deleting it or writing an e-mail, etc. etc.

As I said, sometimes I don't finish what I've started and file the unfinished e-mail to my draft folder which is located in the folders on my computer section... There is also a folders on MSN section and the third would be imported folders... (I have several folders which are created by me and use them accordingly, they are usually in the MSN section but can be move anywhere)... There are at least two, (2), draft folders that set-up automatically which have not been created by me, (#1 in folders on my computer and the other, #2, is in the imported folder...

I have checked every folder and there is nothing...

You said: (also check in deleted items)? Don't know what you mean Zimbo...

You said: Also did you get any prompt asking you to auto-archive your emails? Don't know what you mean on this either... Please elaborate on these two questions...

Thanks for your help on this... Any other thoughts?

nicholas

Hi Nicholas,

You can ignore my questions from the previous post, they were relating to Microsoft Outlook which you aren't using.

I'm afraid I haven't dealt much with MSN Mail but I will do some research and look into this for you.

In the meantime try to log onto the following site and see whether there is any help information for you, or whether you can email them direct.

have you tried doing a search on your Pc for your unifinised emails? Or does MSN have a time limit on how long they keep unfinshed or Unsent Emails
