Default help

Hi, can anyone help me please? I have lost an important email, I don't know how it happened. I've searched everywhere I know and found the link to it on my cdrive but when I try to open it it is all just numbers and code etc. Have I lost it forever or is there a way of retrieving it? I'm dead otherwise!!!

Hi Kenzo,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a lot of terrific people on this site, and I am sure that we can help you resolve your problem.

First of all, you cannot open a email from outside of your program, it isn't a "windows" program. So don't panic. :angel5:

What program are you using for email? Did you save the email to your desktop? Did you move your email somehow? Can you have the person who sent you the email resend?

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hi TTFN, I was using yahoo and I don't know where the email went, I don't remember saving it anywhere. It was a new business email so I don't even know the address it came from. I don't suppose there is anything I can do but some emails on the hard drive I can open, it says "get msg (8) or whatever, but this one opens with nothing but no's, or code or whatever it is. As you have probably guessed I'm fairly new to all this and don't really know what I'm doing. If you can't help I'll just have to "fess up" I suppose but wanted to try to fix without having to say how really stupid I am!!

Have you looked at every folder in Yahoo Mail?

 Not stupid Kenzo, learning.

Actually, I was wondering if you are using a program to view you're emails, like Outlook, or if you are just viewing them online, webbased?

You say that you have Yahoo Mail. Have you set it up to delete the mail from the server when it downloads to your harddrive? Have you tried logging into your mail account online to see if it is still there? I have had to do that from time to time with my comcast account.

Look forward to hearing your reply,

TTFN (Ta Ta for Now)

Sorry..."tjnbarbour"...was just upset last time I was on. Thankyou for your help, and to you also "the1985evs" I'm afraid its something to do with the computer, its been offline since the 9th. or 10th. something not right with the hard drive!! I never did find the email, it was not in ANY of the yahoo folders and I WAS just viewing them online, it just vanished into a great black hole and I should never have looked on the hard drive at all, it was just there to thumb its nose at me I think!! This has taught me however that what I really need is a good computing class!! And, no the sky didn't fall on me when everyone found out, they were really ok about it...seems most people have done as bad, or worse in their time...just make sure it doesn't happen again!! By the way, why IS it some emails can be read from the hard drive and others can't? Kenzo.
