Exclamation Digital Camera Troubles!

Hello.

Recently my Grandmother tried to hook up our Digital camera to our computer to take some photos off of it. Now normally the only problem I would see here is an old person with technology...Just kidding!. But seriously the only problem is that we have removed photos from the camera numerous times before and have never come across a problem like this. Firstly the camera all of a sudden does not seem to be registering when we insert it into the USB slot, My computer makes the little jingle that lets me know when there is a new thing put in the slot but after that nothing really happened.
Secondly I ruled out a damaged USB slot because my USB Key, Webcam, AAAAND Wifi Connecter all work just fine.

So I have tried a few things to fix this.
-Restarting Computer (DId Nothing)
-Canned Air brushed the dust from all connectors (Nothing)

Can anyone help me figure this out? I dont wanna say that my cable has kicked the bucket unless I know for sure. Please help me.

When you hooked up the USB key, etc. you used the same cable?
Did you look in "my computer" for the camera ?-- usually appears as a "drive"

Its the same USB Cable that connects from the Digital Camera to the Computer and normally it would open up this dumb program called Kodak easyshare. Problem lately has been that 1. Kodak disappeared off the map and no one uninstalled a thing. It doesnt auto open, or anything. 2. When the camera is plugged into the computer and turned on. I tried opening and viewing the pictures with an adobe photo viewer program and it never found it.

Easyshare is still available...
Download here:
EASYSHARE Software Downloads
Be sure to check the OS version
uninstall the old version-- it probably just got corrupted-- it happens.

If you don't want it-- there is Irfanview (freeware)
there is a small amount of configuration to do with it...
there are a thousand "plugins" for it-- one is bound to work-- but it depends on what file-format your camera uses.

I apologize for my delay...
i would think thatit should detect the camera-- unless the USb cable itself is bad

the way to see that is if the camera shows up in "My computer" when you connect it.
if it does reinstall the easyshare-- it could be that the camera driver is included in the software...if the software becomes corrupted --you lose connectivity... Windows see's the camera-- but does not recognize it.
