Another reason I'm hoping the board I have was a good choice as it should be able to handle i9.

System configuration update:

This HDD part number is a "bare" device. What one might order if one is replacing a damaged HDD. For a new configuration a WD SecureConnect SATA 2 CABLES REV. A cable needs to be ordered for the signal path. The power cable will be provided by your PSU.
I have ordered mine via eBay.

We learn from our mistakes.

Another system add-on:

1 x12 inch 3-pin Fan Extension Cable from https://www.fanwholesale.com/login.php

I haven't received the Air Cooler for the CPU yet. However, I realized as I was connecting the Case fans to the motherboard that, while the cable length for one of the fans sufficed for a standard configuration, the addition of the Air Cooler would interfere with the only possible connection path for the fan cable.

Therefore, I have ordered this extension that will provide a method of routing the fan cable around the Air Cooler.

Oo, so you weren't kidding. I thought this was just like a "What If" kinda thread.

So I'm assuming you plan to RAID the SSDs then?

If money was no problem for your "Dream" machine and you opted for Nvidia, maybe you could've tried to get your hands on an Asus MARS or two , JK.

Callisto, wizards don't kid....

And, yes the SSDs will get the RAID treatment.

If you had mentioned the Asus MARS, I would have looked into it. Maybe next Christmas.
I'm currently waiting for the Intel i9 to come out, since my DFI 1366 socket will be able to handle it. Depends on the cost. OUCH!
