I've noticed more and more folk mentioning their Core i5 CPUs "didn't come with thermal paste". MOST of the Intel stock heatsinks are pre-pasted with goo right on the underside of the heatsink assembly. If there is none there, then YES - it would be wise to add thermal paste. However - double-check and make sure it wasn't just .. already on there.
