You asked so don't shoot the messenger.

By my standards that thing is an antique and I can't really see what other than perhaps adding memory would even be worth doing to it.

It might well work for someone if all they do is check emails and surf a bit but we are getting to the point now where pretty soon it won't even meet minimum requirements for an operating system and frankly it's bare minimum for even XP since XP should have at least 512MB of memory.

I would not put any money into it myself.

Thank you, that is just what I needed to hear. In truth, this is 10 year old HP pavilion. Perhaps since it is minimum, that is why it is so slow at everything.

So basically, anything would be an improvement over this?

Yes pretty much anything would be an improvement but what is hurting you the most is the lack of memory.

You'd notice quite an improvement if you doubled the memory in it but overall it's quite outdated now.

ETA: Just noticed your post stating memory is maxed out. That being the case it's time to turn it into a door stop.

The upgrade Im getting has a 2 GHz processor and 4 gigs of ram, I'm thinking that will do for what I use it for (small online gaming, and web surfing). I plan to make this computer my test dummy, using it to download files, scan them, and make sure theyre safe before sending them to my new pc. If I download a bad file this computer will take the blow and not my good pc. This one has Avast Home Edition, It has yet to fail me.
