Hello Edge,

Looks like you have a killer gaming setup there! The nVidia GTX series are great cards, good PSU choice also!

One suggestion, Why don't you upgrade those 7200x2 hard drives to just one 500GB 10000 or 15000 RPM HDD's? If you really want fast load times in your video games, you should check those out. I recommend the WD VelociRaptors. Link:

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Hard Drives,Internal Hard Drives,15000 RPM

These new 15000 RPM harddrives are so darn fast! You should definately give them a look!

I'll go along with BF2's post. Even if you decide to stick with 2 drives, make sure they are Western Digital. You might consider getting 3 drives and setting up a RAID 5 array. Speed & redundancy all-in-one.

Thanx, Although I'd really like to have multiple hard drives. I like those VelociRaptors, bit pricey though if buy 2 or 3. Do you know of any alternatives? This is one of my first builds and I don't know that much about RAID or setting it up. Could you kinda explain it?

P.S: All the drives on Newegg were listed as OEM. Should I buy OEM or retail?

I wouldn't spend the money to buy 2 or 3 Velociraptors anymore than I'd spend the money on SSD's. Too expensive.

Any decent WD HDD will do. I have two RE3 drives (RAID 0) in one computer:

Newegg.com - Western Digital RE3 WD2502ABYS-01B7A0 250GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

and two Caviar Blue drives (RAID 0) in another:

Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Blue WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

RAID 0 has no redundancy, so you need to keep your data backups up to date. RAID 0 is very fast. A drive failure will shut you down.

RAID 5 has redundancy, if one drive fails the system will continue to run, but more slowly until the failed drive is replaced and the array rebuilt.

RAID - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
