Default i7 First time builder. no video

Okay here are my specs,

intel i7 920
asus p6t
12 gb of ocz 1600mhz tri-channel ram; 6 2gb sticks
Ultra lsp650 power supply at 650 watts
2 seagate HDD's one @ 1.5TB, one @ 500GB
NZXT case w/ 6 fans
geforce gts 250 video card with 512 MB ram

Here is my problem...

I put everything together, taking my time and I made sure everything is in it's right place. I had no problems here.

But for some reason, when I try to turn it on, the fans spin, the LEd's turn on, everything seems normal, but my monitor says no signal.

When I take the same DVI cable and put it in my other computer, it displays normally.

This means that the monitor and the cable are fine. They should be they are brand new.

As are all of my components, but why do I get nothing?

The power is in the Mother board, both the main and aux, all the fans spin,
both 6pin power plugs are in the GPU, what is wrong?

One smaller thing of note, the internal computer speaker doesn't work, I tried plugging it in both ways and I never heard the boot up beep.

It would be really lame if this expensive system didnt work...

so if you can help me I would be a thousand times grateful.

okay after removing 6 gigs of ram, it now will display the bios screen, but now it just turns off without warning within 30 sec or less after each successive boot. I will try refitting the Heatsink to see if that helps. If not any Ideas?

To clarify, I guess the p6t has problems adressing more than 6 gigs of ram. Thats what I heard, anybody else hear of this?

Sounds to my inexperienced ears like your power supply is either damaged or not powerful enough to handle all those fans and hard drives and the cpu and graphics card...

In order to troubleshoot a new build you must first disconnect everything that isn't essential. That means disconnect the fans, hard drives, dvd drives, graphics card (if you have onboard), sound card, usb devices, etc. All you want left connected is enough to complete the initial boot.
If that works start connecting things one at a time and try again. I know it's a pain but persevere and you'll get there.
Good luck

Your power supply should be more than powerful enough. Google "Power Supply Calculator Lite" and double-check if you're worried.

Test the RAM sticks one at a time - you may have gotten a bad stick.

Any changes after reseating the CPU and heatsink?

At what point during POST is it shutting itself off? I remember when Asus's reputation came into question for high numbers of board failures - I hope this is a thing of the past.

If/when you DO get a successful POST, make sure the first thing you do is head into the BIOS and configure everything (RAM speeds, RAM timings, voltages, etc). These X58 boards generally need some initial tweaking to play nice.

I too just assembled my first i7 system not too long ago. It can be scary with such expensive parts, but once everything's playing together, it's a beautiful symphony.
