Question Just wondering if im going correct route?

Ok easy place to start is what happened first, I believe I went and done something wrong.

I have a Dell 2400 Dimension, desktop, I was having problems with the on board sound, which forced me to use a usb sound device to play or listen to anything, thus moving and losing said USB device. So I installed a 3D sound card, which came out of a Dell 8200, problem is when I put the card in and the little metal piece that blocks the dust and so on from getting into your PCI slot, I seemed to mess something up becuz my on board net card/slot, wouldnt work, the orange light indicating that there is a connection, or a Cat5 cable plugged up stayed lit constantly, with or with out the C5 cable, even with the computer off.

Wanting to see if I damaged the board I took it out, now behind the processor is the four screws, no problem to get to just, took the little metal piece off, and unscrewed them, now problem lies with putting it back together, I put the processor piece on the chip in side, lined it up and popped it in, but doing so, I bent four of the pieces to it( the little like copper hairs on the piece that plugs in). Now at the same time, I had the 8200 set there, so popped video card and everything in it, and turned it on, everything comes on just no picture, everything has power but cant do anything with it, also wondering exactly how many cables I should have, b/c I have one for the Hard Drive, the two cd-roms, and a third one that I would pursume plugs into a floppy drive yet doesnt, now I have the power plugged to both outlets for the board, but seems im missing something, b/c i have to outlets (3 to 4 prongs on them) on the board that dont have anything to go to them, and wondering if that has anything to do with it?

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Im just thinking I could have fixed the other if I didnt pop one of them off, is there a quick fix to it that isnt to expensive?

Thank you,
Brandon

Hi Brandon,

Welcome to PCHF. It appears that your situation was fixed at your other post. http://www.pchelpforum.com/network-h...tml#post288105.

It's really best to only post once regarding problems. It alleviates extra time being taken.

Look forward to seeing you in the forums. Glad you got your network back up.
