Default Building HD/Blu-ray/Gaming PC

Hello.
I'm trying to decide which specification is good for building my PC that is capable of playing high quality Blu-ray/HD DVD and also that can play good quality of newest or future PC games.
I was going to build my whole PC from scratch, cause my PC is first generation of Pentium 4 PC that has socket 478.
Can anyone help me with this decision?
Thanks for reading this.
I appreciate your helps.

Thanks for reply.
1. What kind of PSU company would you consider as good ones and how much wattage should I get?
2. How many case fans should I normally have on both Dual Core and Quad Core CPUs?
3. And what motherboard chipset should I get? I heard Intel is making X58 and one that has SLI capable motherboard?
