There's no reason for any shame (?????). You completely misunderstood my reason for singling out the particular ASUS board you listed, the Commando. I'll try to explain it for you again. The board's Northbridge chipset is OLD TECH. My point being, regardless of what brand of new board you buy, even if it's ASUS, why not select one with newer technology?? I don't have any real preference as far as name brands go.
I understood your original post (open to all registered members) as a sort of feedback request to aid you in selecting a new motherboard. If I misunderstood your intent, then I just misunderstood. Good luck with whatever choice you make.......
Anyway, I found the EVGA motherboard Jester was talking about on a UK website and I will be purchasing that one along with a 9800 GTX, a 600W PSU, a new case and a new monitor. I will keep my current CPU (e2160) for now as I want to overclock it to 3GHz which should be achievable with the new case and some more fans and such.
Thanks for all the advice everyone. As far as I'm concerned my question has been answered and this thread can be labelled as such.
