Hey everyone!

this is my first post so not sure if this is the right section(sorry if it is)

Ive had this comp lying around for a while, and now im on Uni holidays i want to fix it, so i thought id come here and explain

Its a P3 that is pretty darn good for its time, but the prob is... when i connect it all up, an plug the power cord to the tower, it automatically powers on but does not start running windows, the fan starts going an yeah, but im unable to power it off or reset it as those lights are also on

what are some steps i could take to fix ?

The powering on issue when plugged in maybe it was setup this way in BIOS.

As it is a PIII wich realy is not an issue as I have a PIII running with XP pro.Is there any way you can test hardware from this old computer?IE,hard drive by fitting as a slave in another pc?

What colour is the light on mainboard?

Do you get any beeps on startup or during the running time?If yes how many?

Has it got RAM/Memory fitted in there?Do you have any old RAM you can test in there?

You can try disconnecting all unesential hardware, say hard drive,CD/DVD rom.Test any RAM stick by stick as in individual one at a time.

ok ... i dnt have a spare comp to test nethin like this, there was one prob when the PC did actually work and that was when it was running, it would jus switch off... then didnt touch it for ages and this happened...

the light on the mobo is a green colour, and as it doesnt actualy start up it just powers on there isnt any beeps...

With the ram, there is 2 256sticks in there
